LATEST NEWS ON 2020 COMPETITION
We hope you and your families are ok in these challenging and difficult times. Create & Cook sends you our best wishes.
NEW DEADLINE – THURSDAY 30th APRIL
We are keeping the 2020 competition open with a new extended deadline. Many teachers are telling us they still want to enter some of their young cooks. Young cooks can also enter on their own from home.
HOW TO ENTER FROM HOME
To help, we’ve uploaded a new video on How to enter from home onto our Facebook page. This talks through how to work on the competition, fill in the entry form and send it into us from home. Its aim is to encourage everyone to finish off their entries and/or enter from home. It could be a nice project to work on with your families at home. Food is so important right now and one of the real pleasures in our new daily routines.
IDEAL HOMEWORK OR EASTER HOLIDAY PROJECT
You don’t have to cook the menus this year, just do the research and create a menu. It’s a great piece of homework or Easter holiday project. The competition encourages us to think about supporting local food producers and farmers (so important to keep them in business during this challenging time) sustainability, food miles and learning where our food comes from. We’ve written a new guidelines sheet you can download here for Midcounties and here for Southern counties. Please also see our video on our county pages.
PRIZES AND FINAL
We still plan to judge the entries and award prizes. If we can, we will also run a Midcounties and Southern final in the Autumn term when schools are up and running again. We want all the young cooks who have worked on the competition to still have the chance to cook their recipes in front of our judges and be awarded praise and prizes.
We’re going to be profiling a young cook/past finalist each week on our social media to try and continue to nurture young talent and celebrate local food. So stay with us and stay safe.
Best wishes from the Create & Cook Competition team and our sponsors - Best of our Counties from the Midcounties Cooperative and Natures Way Foods. Thank you to our sponsors for continuing to support us in these challenging times.
We’d love to keep you updated with our latest news
